The Mountain Bike Life

I’m excited to say that this season I am part of the 2013 Evil Vengeance Tour. It’s the kind of opportunity that I’ve dreamed about since I was a little kid, and almost seems too good to be true now that it’s actually happening.

I will be receiving support from Evil Bikes, IXS Sports Division, Kore USA, Fox Racing, Mavic, Shimano, WTB, e*thirteen, Kabuto Helmets, and Outdoor Technology. This kind of race support is a huge help, and not easy to come by.

With the amount of races and events I attend, it’s not uncommon for things to go wrong. This has made racing at a high level quite challenging, because in the back of your mind you worry about making it through the weekend with the limited equipment at your disposal.

My first races will be the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey CA, on April 18-21st, followed by the North West Cup in Port Angeles, before heading back east for the Eastern States Cup at Mountain Creek, NJ, and Plattekill, NY.

I fly out to Seattle this Monday (April 15th) where I will get to meet the rest of the team, and get the first ride on my new bike before driving down to Sea Otter. I will be competing in the Downhill race held on Sunday, and just having fun and enjoying the festival and nice weather. It’ll be a good warm up for the season.

I should mention this winter has been dragging out in New Hampshire. There is still snow along with plenty of mud on parts of the trails which has lead to a late start for getting on the bike. It’s been bad enough that it was not worth having my race bike shipped to me. Needless to say I look forward to finally getting some ride time in.

You can follow me on Facebook where I’ll be posting my race results and photos of my new bike. If you’re going to be at Sea Otter, get in touch, I’d love to meet some of the The Mountain Bike Life readers out there.
